Character Name: Death the Kid
Series: Soul Eater
Game transferring from: Vatheon
Canon Point in previous game: He was canon-updated in the game to after he became a fully-fledged god.
Summary/History: I don't feel like writing it out!
Changes in character from previous game:
- Updated from chapter 103 to the end of the manga (became a fully-fledged shinigami, lost his father, took over as the new Lord Death)
- In Vatheon, had a rivalry with Dirk Strider that seemed 'caliginous'/'in spades' to other trolls.
- Ended up in a romantic, if ace relationship with Maka Albarn and Rin Okumura.
- Attempted to recharge the 'coral god' using Soul Resonance and accidentally busted a hole in the protective bubble surrounding the underwater city.
- He went camping! I know, him. Pretty wild, huh?
- He also has an Umbreon named Pip, who he spoils rotten.
Personality:

On first glance, Death the Kid seems poised, refined, more mature and level-headed than his apparent age suggests, and his status as a three-star meister (when other students at Shibusen are often classified one-star) and the son of Death places him apart from his peers. He is exacting, severe and direct, and unlike most (so-inclined) teenagers is much more annoyed than titillated by flirtatious or lascivious behavior – and perhaps because of the things that distinguish him from the other students of Shibusen, he might have discovered how lonely it can be 'at the top' if not for the complimentary relationship he has with his two weapons, the friendships he eventually found in some of his exceptional peers, and the rivalry he has with a brash boy with an inexhaustible drive to beat even a god.

Having grown up with incredible privilege as the son of Death, he's also a spoiled brat who is accustomed to having his way with little (or no) consideration for whether the timing is convenient for others; for example, he has blithely left allies alone on a mission to run a frivolous errand... IN ANOTHER COUNTRY, simply because he could not abide leaving it unfinished, or has stubbornly refused to proceed because circumstances displeased him, requiring his two weapons, Liz and Patti Thompson, to literally drag him around. Although serious (and often to a fault, taking everything a little too seriously, not the least of which his self-assumed duties as the heir of Death), he is still a teenaged boy, indulging in the things that interest him with sparkling enthusiasm, and fearlessly taking on risks only the young and hot-blooded might.

His aloof, mature facade can be shattered when you place him in the vicinity of anything of exceptionally symmetrical appearance; he is simply obsessed with it, a perfectionist to a degree truly worthy of classification as a serious case of OCPD (obsessive-compulsive personality disorder). Kid's desire for bilateral symmetry in every aspect of his life is a manifestation of the Madness of Order. When brought to the fore and amplified by the representation of the Madness of Power within the Book of Eibon, he craved a world brought into perfect symmetry through "nothingness"; now that he has found a way to manage and control his insanity, he desires perfect symmetry through balance of all things, and can use his Madness to increase his own spiritual power immensely at will, as a kind of "cool killing intent". Since his update, he has realized that this Madness of Order is part and central to his power as a fully-realized god of death and refrains from using its full power because of the extent of his love of and faith in humanity.

The downside? Unless he remains vigilant, he can be reduced to a sobbing, inconsolable wreck for such personal crimes as forgetting to fold the end of the toilet paper into a triangle or leaving a picture frame hanging off-center; missions have ended in failure because Kid was distracted by his obsession with symmetry, or something asymmetrical has caused him such personal distress and offense he has veritably exploded with (albeit short-lived) fury.

Powers/Abilities:
Shishin Taijutsu - a unique form of martial arts, very peculiar in style, but effective in hand-to-hand combat. So far, he has demonstrated its use in two 'stances', called the Stance of Crime (stressing offensive attacks) and the Stance of Punishment (defense is key).

The Lines of Sanzu - These three white lines usually span around only one side of Kid's head, breaking up the black monotony of his hair. However, as these lines lengthen to wrap around his head and connect in an uninterrupted line his power increases, allowing him access to stronger powers. (While in the castle, he will mostly remain in an unconnected state because Dawn doesn't want to redraw all her icons mysterious forces make it exhausting.)

Soul Perception - This is the ability to perceive other souls and detect how strong they are, what kind of being it belongs to (such as whether or not it's an animal or human, etc.), and some details about that soul's demeanor (for example, a hot-blooded, fiery-tempered soul might burn like a little ball of fire).

Madness of Law - Kid's obsession with bilateral symmetry is a manifestation of insanity called the Madness of Law; although at one point in time he succumbs to his insanity to the extent of pursuing his idea of a zenith of order in total nothingness, he eventually comes to the conclusion that true order can only be found in a precise balance of all things in existence. When giving himself over to his Madness, Kid gains the ability to connect his Sanzu Lines and greatly increase his physical and spiritual power (so far, he is able to connect two at a time). However, there's a danger in losing himself to his Madness if relied on too heavily.

Shinigami - As the son of Death (and actually, described as a 'fragment' of Death), Kid gains a number of benefits; his body is hardier than humans, resisting (or simply unaffected by) illness, poisons, etc. His recovery time for injuries appears to be extremely accelerated, as he takes a serious beating (pierced/slashed numerous times, then beaten flat) and still manages to pick himself back up to finish off his opponent (and bring down the Egyptian pyramid they were in). Other physical attributes, such as his speed, dexterity, and stamina are superhuman, as he can move so quickly the gesture is unseen by the naked eye, and can teleport short distances (or has such speed that getting from point a to point b happens so fast the human eye cannot perceive it at all). It also appears that he can take the souls of the deceased into himself for safekeeping, as well as a number of his personal items for summoning as he needs them (such as his skateboard, Beelzebub).

Items on your character:
- three piece suit (slacks, jacket, white shirt and corded tie with skull clasp)
- long black (tattered) cloak
- Pip, an Umbreon
- shoulder holsters
- a pair of silver Desert Eagle handguns that emit fragments of his own soul's wavelength instead of bullets (a gift from Maka back in Vatheon)
- a pocket watch (with a photograph of Maka and Rin on the inside of the cover)

Character Name: Silver
Series: Pokemon games
Game transferring from: Vatheon
Canon Point in previous game: End of Jan 2013.
Summary/History:
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Silver_(game) Wiki
http://brbstealingpknm.dreamwidth.org/537.html Vatheon app.

Changes in character from previous game:
Silver's adventures in Vatheon can be summed up as starting out as antagonistic towards everyone and everything ever when he first arrived and getting his feraligatr stolen by N Harmonia. He earned a bit of a moniker as the demon-everyone-hates (and, to be fair, Silver really did not help himself in the slightest), got into some fist fights, of which one resulted in a broken nose, and at least once he stuck his Magnemite on Red in a hissy fit. He eventually stole back his feraligatr, only to find out N had well. Spoiled it, and in a battle with Morty, it turned on him. He also kept repeating his views over and over again, gained mentors with enough patience to see through his bullshit, earned friends, and SLOWLY learned to be a better person.

He gained a girlfriend, whom he did love, and was good towards her (He adored her, and did his best to be a good boyfriend. He got a few talks from her friends, and while defensive, only reiterated that he'd treat her good. He ended up on Nepeta's shipping wall, and it was the time of kissing his private life good-bye. He was no amused, and while he wasn't hiding it... If he wanted to tell Vatheon, he would have, himself.

It was also a time of pissing Mewtwo off, poking at Riku until he Ansem!Ku'd his arse (and Silver put his life on the line for his magnemite, proving that yes, he is changing. Slowly.) There was a death and revival due to the effects of a curse-week, more silly curse weeks (such as an RPG one, being turned into a pony, hats that turned him into the Heir, confessing things, thought bubbles, and more) than Silver could shake a stick at. He gained mentors (Cynthia, Jacob, Sephiroth, Uesugi kenshin, Motochika), and he gained and lost rivals. One of those rivals seemingly gave everyone and their uncle pokemon. Pokemon battles, friends made and lost, someone giving him a sword, seeking to prove himself that he's not (his perception of) his father. Making more friends happened, as did finding himself and who he was, and finding what worked for him, even if it was still in stake contrasts to the rest of the trainers. All the while Silver had to battle against coma-sleeps, canon updates, and a low level plot that was mostly in the background while he was there. He did not care much about it. He had 'bigger problems'.

Personality:
Regardless of how much he seems to have changed, or not, by his time in Vatheon, Silver is still selfish, cold, cruel, and callous. He can be rude, arrogant and dismissive of anyone and everyone at the drop of a hat, and he's more than capable of being a complete and utter pain the arse, yet at the same time, he's perfectly capable of being polite and willing to play nice. But he's not one who makes friends easily, or minces his words. He'll call a spade a spade, and that's all there is to it; sometimess he's trolling, other times he's not, and he's gotten used to ridiculous things happening to him and those around. It's something of a side hobby of laughing at people by now, and while he certianly doesn't like the Ridiculousness, he's decided he can live with whatever happens because it's unlikely to last past a week. That said, by the time of his first Christmas in Vatheon came around, he gave out Christmas presents, and received them in turn from a close circle of friends he'd managed to make. The gifts hold sentimental value, even if he doesn't admit it. Percious links to fragile bonds he's rather hide than talk about.

Silver still has Issues surrounding his father; time in Vatheon has done little to ease them and if anything, it's done the opposite and reminded Silver of how much he used to look up to the man, and how coloured by emotion his perception of Giovanni is. It's still very much a sore point thank you very much, but - it's something that was semi-adressed. Just don't expect Silver to actually forgive Giovanni any time soon for actually abandoning him, but, progress happened on the rest thanks to his mentors, and people finding out about his past. That's also another sore point. He's not ashamed, but he is a private person.

To say that it was a long and painful road, both in canon and in Vatheon, to treating his pokemon better would not be an exaggeration. He still struggles with that road, and being a less abusive and hatefilled person in general, but he is learning. While he'll never show more than a passing concern for his pokemon in public and does still treat them like tools, he DOES care for them in his own way and he's fine with that; he has a crobat, and that's proof enough for him that what he's doing is working because Silver's literally put his life on the line for his magnemite and proved that dispite all the darkness in his heart, there is light in still. He's changed the way he feeds his crobat, he's worked his butt off to regain his starter's trust, amongst other things he's done for his team. It's hard, and he makes backslides back into what he knows - the Team Rocket way of thinking and acting -, but he's trying.

Silver's attitude towards a happy pokemon can be summed up as this: The happier his tools are, the stronger they seem, so maybe it has some worth. All that matters, in the end, are strong pokemon, and if that means happy pokemon, then so be it. He's still strict and callous towards them, but not outright abusive. He's still got a lot to learn in this regard, so the while the going is slow, it's there, and his methods remain a stark contrast to many other trainers. Silver doesn't care. It works for him, and he's not changing just because some goodytwoshoes protag takes issues with him.

While it's been toned done a lot since his time in Vatheon, plus canon updates, Silver is still abrasive and outright dismissive at times towards those he perceives to be weaker than him, even if they beat him at something. They are, in his eyes, still weak and in his own words, a waste of time and effort, but at the same time, he is warming up to the idea of respecting someone even if they appear weak.

Love, trust and friendship are not traits shown often, or openly admitted to, and they are typically ruthlessly suppressed or denied, shown only to close friends or his mentors. The same can be said for anything resembling guilt at letting people down, that he hurt those he does consider friends, because it's still an uncomfortable notion, that he's made friends, made attachments. He chooses to run away from things, rather than confront them head-on. It can be said this is a reaction to his father's abandonment at thirteen years old, and because of a childish promise he made in the throws of emotion. His time in Vatheon did not help the issues with abandonment; several times his mentors were sent home by the bubble, and sometimes they showed back up.

It's not something he really knows how to deal with other than anger and feelings of betrayal and socially isolating himself for a time. Silver knows it's not their fault, yet he lets his emotions rule. As a direct result of this, and many, many talks with friends, mentors, and arguments with said same, Silver's views that he doesn't need anyone have changed for the better. Trust, faith, and above all, love and compassion, are what will ultimately help him reach the goal he desires, and Silver is not one to change his mind quickly about anything.

Silver holds grudges like they are going out of fashion, and the salt is often very real. His desire to prove himself at whatever he does is something his mentors have used against him, be it blatantly or not. One notable one is Cynthia, who always pushed him to be better and was patient enough to deal with him when no-one else truly wanted to. It worked, though in the meantime it meant that more and more trainers were starting to know about his past, and that is a distinctly uncomfortable notion Silver simply has to deal with. That it's a side effect he now knows how to groom and care for his pokemon better, that he can make crobat food isn't thought about. Silver owns a sword, and the only thing that motivivated him at the time to learn was pure spite towards the manner in which he got it, and the fact he was told he hides behind his pokemon. He dodn't think that true persay, but he's now aware that's how other worlds might view it. Silver has never backed down from a challenge, and he never will, and learning the art of swordsmanship is no differant.

That he learns patience and self control is a bonus.

Re: Silver | Pokemon Games | CRAU 1/2

[personal profile] brbstealingpknm 2016-08-01 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Silver's feelings on Team Rocket can be summed up as a clusterfuck of contradiction, in no small part thanks to Vatheon. He hates them, but he once hero-worship them and thought they were the best thing ever. It's highly likely he actually grew up around some of the higher ranked officers, and that means his feelings on Team Rocket are not clearcut, not shall they ever be. He knows full well that TR is a powerful gang, yet, his mindset at the start of the games was: they act tough in a group, but get them alone, and they're weak - his father the weakest of all and a coward to boot. (Though, that's not true; his father was a powerful man who led a very dangerous yakuza/mafia group for over a decade.) Yet, they are also a part of his legacy, and if anyone deals with them once and for all, it should be him, because he's the Boss's son, and what good are weaklings who can't even follow orders to disband? They'd only get in the way, or worse mess things up.

Added into this maelstrom of emotions is that Vatheon did a number on them, dredging pretty much everything about his past up in one shape or rather, and further muddied what was once a clear-cut issue. It's unlikely that Silver would ever seek to rebuild or take control of TR, but he's not above using his status to bully any TR members that may show up. Damage control, he's all too willing to do, if only to save his own hide.

Noticeably in the games is his near constant derision and condescending treatment of Ethan, going so far as to physicality push him aside once or twice. He also tells his Rival that he's not sufficiently good enough as a trainer. It's also noted that he's like this with other trainers - he had no qualms about being a bully, or lying or deceiving them to get what he wants; he tried that more than a few times in Vatheon when he first arrived. Word of mouth quickly stopped him in his tracks, and taught him he can't do that in a closed setting where almost everyone knows everyone. That he steals his starter, then later his sneasel is a hint that yes, he's willing to do whatever he wants, even breaking laws, which implies he likely stole some of his badges, and did not earn them. While he does get better towards his Rival, he's still not Ethan's friend.

In a nutshell, Silver is cold, cruel, rough, hates the weak and is a bully. However, his time in Vatheon has mellowed him out, and he's still trying to change, even with the backslides and slips along the way. He'll get there, eventually.

Powers/Abilities:

POKEMON TEAM (He's willing to leave the espeon at the daycare once he's told it's safe. After all, she's not a fighter like the rest of his team.)
1 Espeon. Female. lv 25. Ability is Synchronize. Silver gained her in Vatheon after his girlfriend went home.
2 Feraligatr. Male. Lv 60. Type: Water || Ability: Torrent
3 Sneasel. Male. Lv Lv 55. Type: Dark/Ice || Ability: Inner Focus
4 Gengar. Male. Lv 56. Types: Ghost/Poison || Ability: Levitate
5 Alakazm. Male. Lv 56. Type: Psychic || Ability: Synchronize
6 Magneton. Male. Lv 55. Type: Electric/Steel || Ability: Magnet Pull
7 Crobat. Male. Lv 58. Types: Poison/Flying || Ability: Inner Focus

+ He's shown on several occasions to literally shove Ethan out of the way, showing he's obviously fit and has decent upper body strength.
+ Street smarts and battle smarts. It's heavily implied the only times he's lost in the games are to the player character, and Lance.
+ He seems to be a bit of a detective as well, or at least good at spotting things. He does unmask the PC when they were trying to be a Rocket.
+ Silver's gained about a yearish of work experience as a cafe waiter/cashier, which while it was a small NPC run cafe, it's worth noting here.
+ Silver's also gained knowledge on how to fight with a sword. He's only a beginner at best, but it something he's going to want to continue practising.
