FAQ
What happens if my character dies? Death is not permanent in Sol Raveh. What happens, instead, is when a character dies they become a temporary servant of the Shadow Queen. Like the Shades that crawl through the castle through their portals of inky black darkness, your character will for a time become one of them and do the bidding of the Queen. This includes chasing people away from still-restricted areas and even going after them for the sake of pulling them in to the portals. Your character's mind will be very much like a controlled zombie, unable to really think or act for themselves. However playing this out is not mandatory. It is entirely up to you if you wish to play out your character's Shade-self or simply have them lingering among the others unnoticed. Time as a shade does have a minimum requirement of at least three days (though can last as long as you see fit), and it is entirely your choice as to whether or not they will remember their time as a creature under the control of the Queen when they reform back to normal. Death and Shade-time can also be used as a hiatus option should you so choose. What happens to dropped characters? You will have a choice: a) For a permanent "I probably won't be coming back" drop, they will return back to their home world. The reasoning will be vague if anyone should question Ozuma about it, his answer being something along the lines of "Sol Raveh decreed it so". Chances are high that the god simply decided that the person was better off/needed in their home world more than they were needed here. This does allow for other people to app the same character later on, though without memories of their original time here. or b) They become a permanent/semi-permanent Shade, complete with their own distinct features setting them apart from the others that will likely be recognizable by other characters. While this allows for the chance of same-mun reapping in the future complete with memories, it also means that if you should decide to not return there were be a constant reminder of your character running about, controlled as an NPC. This is the closest the game will get to a perma-death and must be discussed with the mods beforehand. Can characters bring their pets, familiars, animal companions, Pokémon, or mounts? Yes, with some stipulations. Pokemon will be limited to the usual six-carried per trainer. Legendaries will remain in their home world. Companions that are shown to be more independent (ie Kuro from Blue Exorcist, R2D2 from Star Wars, Mouse from Dresden Files) will unfortunately not be allowed as a tag-along to their partner and will have to be apped separately, preferably by a different mun. Companions with abilities like teleport, fly, breaking through walls, etc will be subject to the same rules as main characters with the same. (See below for more details) What can characters bring with them? Anything they had on their person at the time of being taken. This includes weapons, backpacks, satchels, purses, wallets- basically anything that could be reasonably carried by your character. Other items that might have been missed at time of transport can be requested at a later time, given that you've earned enough favor with Ozuma. If for some reason you haven't had the chance to do so, he may send your character on a small quest before granting the item. Like any other power, items may be limited/nerfed based on the information listed below. How do characters arrive? As access to the Living Quarters and other important, early-accessible areas start in the Sarcophagus Room that is where characters will be arriving. However unlike Ico they will not be placed in any of the sarcophagi. Instead they will spend a short period in a more limbo-like area filled with bright light, briefly speaking to Ozuma about their purpose here before waking fully in the room. For a time they may feel weak and disoriented from their unexpected travel, but they will not feel any other adverse affects. If they were pulled from a point of canon where they were injured/dying they will wake with their injuries in a slightly healed state, however they will likely need further assistance depending on the severity of the injuries. Can characters understand each others' languages? Can they read other languages? It's a very "yes and no" answer. The characters will be able to speak to each other is if there is no language barrier thanks to Ozuma's presence with them, and through the bulletin board system they'll be able to read messages without trouble. This also goes for the "common" language, the language Ico and later the villagers and other populations will speak. However Yorda's language and by extension the Queen's native language will not be translated or understood until later in the game. This is entirely due to the Queen's influence on her daughter, making Yorda rely entirely on gesture and noise to get her point across. My character is super-strong and can smash through walls/My character can teleport/My character can fly! They can just bypass all these puzzles, right? Nope! You have to remember that the Shadow Queen has control over most of the castle at game-start. And she is no pushover. She is powerful, her influence is powerful, and for all intents and purposes she is the castle. Reclaiming areas for light, going through puzzles and eventually finding the way to her chambers is going to have to be a group effort, no if, ands or buts. Attempts to access areas that are not ready for exploration, being foolish and attempting to go off and conquer these things on your own or using powers to cheat her system is going to result in a whole world of hurt and, if you're not careful, death. And if people are reckless enough to try this multiple times even after the first warning, chances are incredibly high you'll even lose reclaimed areas. Do you really want to do that to your companions? Seriously world-breaking powers will be nerfed for the sake of ease of play among your other muns and to keep a semblance of balance within the game. Reality-warping, unrestricted teleporting, omniscience and the like will be completely nerfed and unusable regardless of what area you're in. And on the note of teleportation: attempting to teleport back home will land you in a random location in the castle. It's not really recommended, especially if you don't want to accidentally wind up in the sky and falling to your death. What communities are there and what are they for? ● ![]() ● ![]() ● ![]() announcements. ● ![]() ● ![]() What kinds of characters can I play here? Any! Book, manga, movie, anime, tv, game and other media will all be welcome here. We are also going to allow original characters, CRAU from previous games, alternate universe and original universe, and Fandom OCs. Please keep in mind that all characters will be subject to the rules about powers and abilities. Original characters will require a history that gives good detail and insight in to the characters and their lives on top of a detailed personality section. CRAU will require information about their previous game and how they changed (or didn't change) in their time in the previous location. Fandom OCs will require much of the same things that the Original Characters will need, with the extra stipulations that they must not have a relation of any kind to any canon characters in the series they're coming from. Also, as an extra reminder, the use of overpowered creatures/weapons/powers from canon is not allowed. More stipulations may be added if we run into any issues in the future with this particular character type. Alternative universe characters will need a list of differences between them and the original in both history and personality. Keep in mind "AU" doesn't mean "different character with the same face" so don't go overboard with the changes to who they are lest you, well, lose who they are! Duplicates of characters will not be allowed at this time, with the exception of characters that have duplicates in their own canon (Persona 4 shadow-selves for a specific example). And yes, characters that are villainous, chaotic or even neutral will be allowed along with all the "good" guys. Just keep in mind how this will affect your game play and experience. Characters may even have a chance to be (excuse my Star Wars steal) "brought over to the dark side" by the Queen if that is something you are interested in. My character is really big/really tiny/in a wheelchair/not human/not humanoid! Can I still play them here? Yes, of course, but keep in mind their limitations. Use that in game play and don't just simply gloss over their issues. A disabled character is still disabled even if they're in a magical castle of light and dark and are going to have to react to their environment as such. A non-humanoid may have issues where humans don't (or even the reverse of that, a human having trouble where a non-humanoid might not). Playing characters with differences like these can be frustrating in environments that aren't always the most accommodating, but it often winds up being a spectacular chance for CR! We want everyone to have the chance to come here and have fun. If there is a specific thing that your character has that needs to be addressed, please feel free to ask the mods for discussion about it. What time ratio does this game use? 1:1, with backdating and forward dating allowed. What's required for Activity Checks? There will be no strict activity check, however the mods will be peeking in to logs and tags once in a while to ensure that apped characters are being played fairly regularly. Contact between mun and player will happen if we see that there hasn't been much activity from the mun in some time (usually between a 2-3 month period; everyone gets busy, we understand and don't want to penalize for life happening) but if there is no return contact the character(s) of the mun will be dropped. There will also be a check in every so often just to make sure people are still around. It won't require activity so much as a "Yes, I'm here and I'm staying/I no longer wish to be here and am dropping" response. Lodging (at the castle)? Beneath the Sarcophagus Room, reached by a set of rickety, out of place-seeming yet still working elevators are several floors, currently 7 in total with 6 of them being for housing. The first floor, directly under the Mess Hall, is all private rooms. These rooms can be taken only with a favor or fulfilling a request from Ozuma. Otherwise there are other rooms that can be taken for everyone else. No more than two to a room unless the third occupant is an animal of some sort. These rooms will be shared and your character runs a high chance of rooming with someone they do not know. This information and a list of open rooms can be found over at the Housing page. Overarching game goal? More about this can be found on the Setting page, but the long and short of it is that your character has been called upon to help in an eons-long battle between two gods - Sol Raveh, the God of Light, and the otherwise unnamed God of Darkness and his many minions that are attempting to stretch their influence over the lands. Sol Raveh has begun to lose the fight thanks to the Shadow Queen that rules over the Castle in the Mist, and as such as begun seeking help from forces beyond their land and their world. His chosen speaker, a horned man named Ozuma who was once hailed as a hero in the time before the castle was locked away from the rest of the world, gives the information to new arrivals before they awake in the castle proper. But the battle won't stop once the castle is free of the Queen's influence. The villages and capital beyond also need your help in dealing with the dark forces trying to rip the light from the homes and residents of the land. And then there is the Forbidden Land beyond the valley... | ||||||

so what about healing factors? would they be toned down? because he literally can't die. it takes him a little bit to get back in one piece after his head's cut off at the farthest region they've been away from the source of the power, which made the other dragons sick because distance weakens their powers. (also is there a spot in the castle that could serve as a point for the powers to be stronger/weaker closer/farther or should it just be a stagnant for the entire area) his healing thing leads to his only offensive power so it's kind of important.
basically, what happens to healing factors?
no subject
That said if you don't ever want them to die at all it's really just a matter of avoiding the portals that the shadows come through, since that's basically a kill-point regardless of who it is. You get dragged all the way, kiss your butt goodbye for a few days. Anything else like falls, stabs, etc etc that would kill a mortal but wouldn't kill your immortal character will remain the same.
The only "point of power" currently is the center platform at the top of the stairs in the altar room, which is where Ozuma greets the PCs. As the light side (insert star wars joke here) expands in to the castle, Ozuma will take up more spots in an effort to hold those positions and provide another point of power. However if the position is lost back to the Queen, that point and thus the power will dissipate until it can be reclaimed again.

Would abilities like cooldown, critical chance, or the like found in MOBAs matter here? How about actives that may give arachne Immunity to damage of crowd control(mind control could work like that), or reflect damage back?
Just trying to figure out what items she would have.
Also, Arachne can talk to spiders, as well as hatch them from eggs and special webs. How would those work in this game? As with walking on walls or ceilings?
no subject
1) Items are all good but limited to what she has on hand.
2) Abilities are fine to a point, they can't last forever of course.
3) She can hatch all she wants...but if they're around shadows...they're probably going to get squished. Sorry. Question on this front: For what purpose would she have the spiders around. Battle? Companion?
4) Climbing on walls/ceiling: this is a-okay so long as Arachne does not go into an area that has not been unlocked by the mods. If you want her to have a plot to find an area please contact one of us to talk it over.

and is used to prove that their currency isn't counterfiet. However, the source of Stormlight is ... super-massive hurricanes. Seriously, Roshar's geography/ecosystem is a bit like deep sea life (semi-mobile plants, most things are chitenous, barely any soil anywhere-) because of these things.1 Can he infuse his spheres with stormlight from Ozuma's room, and maybe it lasts a little less in his spheres/in him when he's using it?
He only has access to his windrunner powers when he has a companion spirit (honorspren) named Sylphrena/Syl. She's invisible to those who aren't bonded to her, also a radiant, or .. weird, like Rock is. Syl has no personality to speak of when she isn't attached to Kaladin, she is reduced to a windspren, which.. have very little personality beyond "vaguely prankster"
2 Would she be arrive with him, or could he get her back with a favor? I am fine with the second because he.. is capable without them, but he would slide really fast into depression and probably workaholic his way into getting her as soon as he hears its an option to ask for things.
no subject
And yes, she can arrive with him.
magic cell phones?!
meaning maybe some monsters from the Underground showing up with their cell phones might be able to put their heads together with other characters to duplicate the technology and give the game the option to text each other? could be a favor, could be a player plot, could bring a whole lotta folks together.
how 'bout it?
no subject
Currently Colin, one of the more technologically advanced characters in the game does have a small collection of data pads that he himself is connected to, and a lot of characters do have their mobile phones on them still even if they currently have no means of powering them once batteries run out. At this exact moment communication outside of shouting at people isn't really a thing but I did mention somewhere in the FAQ that if people are intrepid enough they could likely figure out SOMETHING. Just don't make it suddenly happen out of nowhere - it needs to have planning and discussion and at least some evidence that it was worked out among characters. I also would absolutely not argue player plot. :D

does queen need a corpse to be able to do her shadowy player character thing? Because that would be a problem with seasnake involved, he'd just turn into a big crystal when he dies
no subject
no subject
Is this a thing we can do in Raveh? If so, how?
(Furthermore, if doing this would change a character's powers, would that also be permitted?)
no subject
Power changing would be permitted so long as it stays within the rules for the game. There will be a second on the canon update form for adding any pertinent details.
sorry if this's burpy, my head's failing at words x_x

Seraphs in Tales of Zestiria are invisible to the average human. Humans have to have high levels of resonance in order to be able to see/hear them! Seraphs can become visible in mirrors - takes extreme concentration - and they are physically there... Just invisible. Normal humans can see them for a bit if they have a near death experience, but this usually doesn't stick.
- Would Seraphs still have their 'nope can't see me unless you are in tune with nature / are using airflow to track movements / see spirits normally / SOME OTHER MAGIC SHENANIGANS"? I am a-okay with aping a 'ghost' and him communicating with chalk on Queenies walls.
Or would Ozuma manage to make him like... actually ghostly, transparent hazy and whatnot?
- Second - Seraphs turn into hellions/dragons if they have to deal with too much malevolence/impurity. Would Queenies shadowy nonsense count as ~the dark emotions of human hearts~ or something? (They don't really explain. Jealously and hatred and revenge count, but the assassins don't have a malevolence problem. )
no subject
Unless that's what you want. Ammy's mun went with a perception thing in regards to how people see white god dog. It's one of those things I usually leave up to mun discretion but it could easily be worked as Ozuma attempting to make said character a little more helpful to others.
2. Current shadows aren't really malevolent so much as under the control and direction of the queen. They've left a lot of their previous humanity behind meaning they're just sort of existing in a limbo of nothing, so what gets felt from them is more... cold, empty, nothing. Which can be pretty terrifying on it's own, but details. Later shadows, though...
Well you're just going to have to wait and see on those ones. :)

I was thinking about the TDs recently and stumbled upon something that I'd seen other games do (although I admit it's infrequent and seems to have been more common during younger LJ days): a Fourth Wall Event/Meme. Similar idea, but allows CR memory like the first couple instances of the former.
(The potential stumbling block could be the caveat about how applicants to the game can't ICly have knowledge of the setting, but to counteract that, one could establish a caveat that it's only the CR / conversing that's remembered, and not the setting details or history. Gives the kidlets something to talk about.
Yeah, it's kinda arbitrary, but I'm okay with that if it yields something functional.)no subject
One, the fact that our current cast is more or less planet-locked until the resolution of the game, making not only arrival difficult but departure as well. I don't see it as something that Ozuma would have the necessary power for, especially for something as short lived as a gaggle of random characters showing up, powowing with the current ones and then leaving again.
Two, just the game set up in general. Us being semi-private brings about the issue of possibly not knowing someone that might pop in for the event. I mean, this is less pressing than the previous issue above - chances are it would still be people at least one of the players knows, and I don't really think anyone would cause drama just for the sake of a fourth wall event, but yeah it's still kind of an awkward thing to advertise a fourth wall event for a game that doesn't actually have completely open membership.
Don't get me wrong, fourth wall events are fun, and I'm glad to see you're turning the proverbial gears over in your head for ideas for the game because that's def what I want to see here for us! But I just don't think it's right for this game.

The second is Flowey's form of mobility. He usually pops in and out of the ground and I believe he travels like an underground mole or something. Would he be allowed to keep that ability, or should I just have him only be able to "swim" through the ground?
no subject
And yeah I don't see why he can't keep that ability since that seems like the easiest mode of travel for him.

Mutsuki here has cards that he summons things from with another card. Some of these are monsters that are, for lack of a better term, 'minibosses' with lower intelligence. Some, however, are of high intelligence on par with a human that he can summon out of his cards for a time. Would he be allowed to do so? If not, can he still have the cards, but they remain sealed for [insert plot-related reason here]?
The lack of certain cards would affect his mental stability, which brings up another question - what about characters who are possessed? Because the lack of the Club King and Club Queen cards (which, as face cards, are some of the higher-ranked cards with inhabitants of high intelligence) would cause him to be possessed by the Club Ace card, also a sealed high-intelligence creature, though they merge slightly during the course of the canon.
no subject
I would say for the sake of this question, yes having the cards with the higher level ones but having them sealed would be fine.
Possessed characters really depend on the mun and how they want to play that out. Some people have had the "possessing" character come in separately (Frisk and Chara, Richard/Asbel and Lambda) but otherwise having the possession remain for whatever canon reason should be fine. Just make sure it's included in the app!

Characters who are multilingual, can they speak in a non-common and .. it's not common, it's un-translated by the castle?

1. The situation of Yuugi and Yami Yuugi of Yu-Gi-Oh!, being that Yami is a separate soul possessing Yuugi's body at times. A mutually beneficial symbiotic sort of relationship.
2. And for my specific situation - multiple characters sharing a body, but are not quite 'multiple personalities' so much as separate pieces of a fractured soul sharing a mind and body. Similar to how multiple flowers can bloom from a single stem. Because Air Gear science makes no sense and is crazy...
no subject
Basically before we had both Frisk and Chara, originally Frisk was going to have Chara's SOUL in a sort of similar way to Yuugi and Yami Yuugi? I mean that's not exactly how it would have been, but that's the closest in-game example I have on hand at the moment. Basically if that's how canon is, that's how canon is. We're not going to force something apart that isn't cannonatically set to be that way. Even with something made up of multiple entities as opposed to one.
Just make sure that if you do app such a thing you have it explained somewhere in the app to the best of your ability.

[1] In the instance of a CRAU, what would be considered their home world for the purposes of the update - their original native setting, or the one they were ported from?
[2] Is the 3-5 day period Raveh time only, or is it universal? (that was probably some cruddy phrasing but) That is to say, if Character A returns to their setting, is time presumed to pass at the same rate? (example: 3-5 IC days go by in Raveh, but several years have passed in Canonland)
[3] How much detail is ideal when filling out the form? (At the time of writing, the Canon Update section doesn't appear to have any comments, so I peeked instead at the Item Requests to get a general feel. Somewhere around there?)
no subject
2. 3-5 is real time for us, as well as the 1:1 setting of Sol Raveh. They will spend however much time is needed back in THEIR world as is needed to affect the canon update.
3. Yeah, something around there. It doesn't need to be huge but at least some detail is required.

The character in question I'm considering is Silver from Pokémon Special/Adventures: it's a manga that follows the Pokémon games, and he has a somewhat different backstory and personality from the Silver in the games. I intend to ask the game Silver player if this is okay if it's possible, but I wanted to know whether or not it was possible first.

- do the residential floors have a communal bathroom with multiple stalls and showers like you'd find at a fitness center or gym? Or just one communal bathroom?
- do the private rooms have their own attached bathrooms? or is it the same as the other residential floors?
no subject
First things first, yes the bathrooms are basically the same as say a gym or something. There are two per floor, both are communal and have stalls for privacy.
Secondly, no private rooms do not have their own bathrooms, their floor is the same as the others.

i'm taking ferid from a murdergame and in this particular round of murdergame all participants are already dead, as the canon (death parade) requires them to be! as dead people, they have bodies that are mannequins that don't require eating/sleeping/drinking etc etc, but the downside is that they crumble away after a point of time.
my question is that if i choose to play him with the mannequin bit in mind, does he still fall apart? and if so, if i choose to play him as a vampire instead, is there a place for him to acquire blood or do i have to get him his own source for it?
no subject
Yes, he would still fall apart. As for the blood, though, he could request supplies from Ozuma or take up targeting people in the castle if he's in to that sort of thing, all with permission from the muns of course. Granted the residents might not take too kindly to their friends being nibbled on...

1) If Dante wanted to set up shop and open a Devil May Cry in the castle how would he do it? (Functionally he'd live there and be grumpy and try to trade his skill in violence for other goods and services because he barely functions as an adult)
2) Dante (and to a lesser extent Link) is basically Property Damage: The Guy. How much of the castle is destructible? Would he be able to smash furniture? Statues? Pillars? If he did smash things how much trouble would he be in?
no subject
2) Physical objects are all as destructible as every day items, but the walls/doors/idol doors/general structures of the castle are all miraculously immune to damage. Either of them are welcome to notice, though, that the sarcophagi that line the altar room walls have some suspicious bits of rubble in places where the sarcophagi should be. (Past incident - bunch of newbies got trapped in them, bunch of current residents attempted to break them and only got about ten or so down)

When characters are dragged off to be turned into Shadows is the magic at play there powerful enough to work without fail? If not, how might it react to certain characters like, say, Link here who have powerful Anti-Turn-Into-Evil-Darkness-Thing magic in their souls? Links aren't necessarily immune to that sort of power but there is a bit of a history of them still being physically altered into some sort of bestial form by it (Twilight Princess/Link to the Past) which might be fun to play with.
