July Event: Oh Memories...

In a wonderful turn of, well, events, Sol Raveh will technically be hosting two events this month!

Those Were The Days.
Upon waking on July 3rd, characters will find themselves under attack from an unknown source. Be it an unintentionally universal attempt by Ozuma to find the truth, or the Queen up to her usual tricks, no answers are immediately forthcoming as characters attempt to navigate the invisible landmines littered about the castle: the memories of the people around them.

All throughout this month, characters will be able to drop their own memories about the place, leaving them for other unfortunates to get caught up in. They could be found in places that your character frequents, or even somewhere far more obscure. There is no warning as to where these memories are laid out, meaning that for those unfortunate enough to have secrets, there’s no real way of knowing where these little secrets have gotten to...and who might see them.

Initially, the memories will continue to work as invisible landmines, but as the month progresses, access to these memories may vary. The more your character has seen, the more they need to share, and they might be forced to give these away through physical touch or even eye contact.

Turns out there’s a pretty simple cure to this ailment, however; speaking to one of the afflicted and admitting to a memory of theirs you’ve seen. Should be easy enough, right?

...Right?

• Players can offer a selection of memories of varying types (happy, sad, bittersweet, ect) belonging to their character(s). It’s up to you if you want to plot with someone for specific memories!
• Memories can be experienced in a variety of ways; such as third person (as if your character was watching a movie) or even as if they were the originator of the memory itself; feeling what they felt, being affected by the same biases, ect.
• Remember to be mindful of any castmates you have; should your memories include another character already apped into Sol Raveh, make sure that they’re also happy with what you’re putting out there.

I Need A Break, I Need A Vacation.
As for our second event, our friendly, community rp neighbor forestcovered  will be hosting a fourth wall event from the 15th to the 17th of July! But hold up, what does that have to do with Sol, you ask?

Simple. For those who would like to check out this event and take in a character from Sol Raveh, we have elected to allow characters to retain any memories from their time at the event itself.

Should you choose to give your character a little vacation from the castle, they will be drawn from the castle itself from the 15th as a special guest to the mysterious Witch, owner of the island of Koriko, and current boss to some very familiar faces...perhaps even your own. They will return to the castle once this event ends on the 17th (hopefully none the worse for wear) with memories intact of that special place, and the special people they’ve met there.

For the ones remaining in the castle, these sudden disappearances might be a tad alarming. But don’t worry; as Sans says, they’re just taking a little vacation time, heh. Next time someone should tell Ozuma to stop chatting it up with every strange witch who wanders in.

Howdy! Juuust to be sure, because I'd hate to mess it up. When a character stumbles into a memory and watches it, will the memory still be there after it's finished playing? Like X walks into it, watches it and moves on, then 10 minutes later Z walks by and finds the same one, etc.

Or would they only play once for the person who found them and then disappear?

Oh, you want to see some memories belonging to a being that is literally old enough to remember when all life was single-celled? Awesome! Death will be leaving various historical and pre-historical snapshots of memory around, as well as some memories related to Discworld's canon. Speaking of, Discworld's contradictory timeline might be revealed through some of these memories; all 40+ books are canon, after all, but some parts of that history have canonically been altered or flat-out contradicted thanks to people meddling with the timeline.

A few ideas I've got:

-a snapshot from before the evolution of any of the Disc's dominant species; this could include pre-Cambrian lifeforms, dinosaurs and dragons, etc.
-the death and rebirth of the universe
-a snapshot from the Disc's version of the ice age, which involved Ice Giants driving their glacier herds across the land in an attempt to conquer everything
-Death teaching his adopted daughter to read using a kind of book that records a person's life as they're living it
-Death playing with his granddaughter
-His daughter's death
-That time he was mortal, was supposed to die, but was given a few more moments to live from a friend that allowed him to kill the New Death
-Honestly, any canon moments from the books are fair game!

I will have a some memories available for public discovery! In order to help me offer memories that interest people, I'm polling you guys to answer this question:

What do YOU want to know about this dumpy, pun-loving skeleton?

I already have some ideas, here are some examples below. If marked with (HC) it means this will involve mutually-agreed-upon headcanon.

* a memory that Squish (our Papyrus) told me about Sans telling his little brother about where their parents are. (HC)
* some stuff about his life before it all went to shit like a recent grad prepares for his first day at the career he's been studying for. (HC)
* the mysterious circumstances surrounding their departure from the capital (HC)
* 'Don't let his title make you think he does anything. Everyone knows he just hangs out in the forest reading car magazines.'
* what REALLY put Frisk 'on vacation' (Sol Raveh canon, cw: for character death and PTSD)
* cute slice of life things like how Christmas entirely revolves around making Papyrus happy or telling a woman he's never seen before jokes through a stone door day after day. A day at Grillby's, etc.

Hit me up if you want a memory! I have some that are going to be specifically posted for certain characters upon request, too.

Also: Sans will be gone July 15-17th, which may or may not be conspicuous to his close CR unless they got whisked away for the 4th wall event too.

We could talk about doing a Heavier thing if you want that involved with our cr, but I'm happy leaving it at mundane things.

Aight so, like said in the CR meme and on my plurk if you've got me added, many of Maka's memories will be very unpleasant and include death, abandonment, sexual harassment/assault, children being forced into life or death situations and trained to kill, grievous injuries witnessed/received, and in general just bad things happening to good people. Also literal serial killers as mutated eldritch horrors because Ohkubo doesn't have a creative idea of his own and had to reuse names like that I am dead serious.

Things like that being dropped around, however, would be not that great without careful thought and also good memories to balance it out because damn?? So in the interest of NOT being a gigantic bummer, I--like Dawn--will ask what do YOU want to know about Maka? with regard to memories your character will run into.

For example, Chara is going to experience a more negative memory of Maka's. However, to spare them the grief (since they like Maka) they won't get a more extreme memory and instead see:

* Maka is 11 years old and at a party, she's ready to hit a pinata when something appears to catch her attention and makes her take off the blindfold. It's her father flirting with a friend's mother (again, yes really). So she angrily hits him with the bat and declares she hates him before running off.

Aaaand that's all I got for Maka! Ravio probably won't have specifically tailored memories and instead have the following for public viewing:

* Being presented his scarf by his mother for the first time
* Meeting Sheerow
* D...discovering his house ransacked and mother dead
* Meeting Hilda
* Finding out he's the Hero of Lorule but somehow not being happy about it
* Various cute childhood times with Hilda
* Yuga coming in and Ravio and Hilda drifting apart as she is manipulated by said clown
* Ravio deciding to leave for Hyrule as written in his journal
* Finding Link passed out and taking him back to his house
* The final confrontation with Hilda

We actually don't have CR yet, but I wanted to put on the table that as I'm familiar with Soul Eater, and like I said on Plurk, I'm more than happy to offer Rin up for memories. What I'd be interested in is anything that would give her an excuse to talk to Maka. Probably not bringing the memories themselves up, because that's creepy, but inspiring her to say hi when she might otherwise go on her way. For that purpose, I actually do think a negative memory would work better than a positive one, unless it was something featuring like a shared interest. That might be imposing, I'm really sorry if it is. Mostly this is just me trying to go with whatever you're comfortable with, because it's not a worry for me or my character.

I'm offering the following as public memories for anyone to see. Memories in green are not only canon, but available to be watched in either the Fate/Zero or Unlimited Blade Works animes, if you'd like for me to dig up a visual reference.

- Happy memories of learning Magecraft with her father.
- Looking for four-leaf clovers with another young girl.
- Small seven-year-old child vs. a child-targeting serial killer. (CW: Child endangerment and then some, obv., but this story has a happy ending)
- Her father's funeral.
- Various slice-of-life school memories! Anyone who picks this will get a unique one.
- Meeting Archer, the Servant/familiar she summoned in the Holy Grail War.

Besides these, I also have a ton of ideas for memories I'd like to make more special, thus offer on an individual basis for those who want to get a deeper impression of Rin. She has a shit ton of skeletons in her closet she'd otherwise never speak of, so this might be a once in a lifetime opportunity to see them.

If you'd like something like that, just leave me a comment here and we can come up with something. Taking a page from others, it can be a choose your own adventure type thing! I'm torn between Zuko and Iroh becoming fugitives, confronting Ozai, meeting the dragons, and that first Bastion memory (though that could be a thing better explored if they get to know each other better). Which one would you enjoy most?

* Pretty much all silly stuff here! She's just about irrepressible.
* ... Other than a few moments that, in hindsight, she realizes are ways she treated her sister poorly. :(

Gynoid Support Unit 24
* Several goofier and lighter moments from her adventures on behalf of the Uloan Empire...
* (cw: death) (cw: body horror) ... And then there's some odd ones out. These are not actually Essei's memories, but those of Cevilia, the Paladin who was erased and surgically transformed into Gynoid Support Unit 24 for 'crimes' against the empire. Possible sub-scenes include:
** Cevilia striking down monsters who had invaded her prison cell... Only for the illusion to break and reveal that she'd murdered adventurers who had been trying to save her. (Ever wondered what it feels like when a Paladin falls?)
** The actual start of the destruction of her self - because of course that started while she was conscious.
** Various moments of partial lucidity during the procedures, which could include surgical adjustments to her body while they were in progress. Suffice it to say - painful.

LATE TO THE PARTY but I have been fussing about what to do for this event for awhile so I'm just going to make myself start one of these. I'm always down for dredging up the darker side of Minako, especially the parts that are somewhat speculative and headcanon-y if nobody minds that overmuch, but I also really want to see her bond more on a positive note with some of her CR.

So basically whichever works best for given cr, or whatever you might be craving!

Cuter/Nicer stuff

A few of you have things in mind that we've discussed, but I figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to put this comment out there anyway. I've got a few memories of Wade's that I'm considering, but if you've got something else in mind feel free to let me know! Warnings include death, torture, body horror, medical horror, gore and dark themes because Wade's life is just a basket of puppy kisses and unicorn farts! :D (asterisked memories exclusive to Wade's close CR)

Canon Memories:
- Wade's mother dying*
- A day in the life of Wade Wilson: killer for hire
- A day in the life of Wade Wilson: cancer patient
- Fun times with Dr. Killebrew*
- His final meeting with Cable
- Bonding with Evan Sabahnur (the boy who should have become Apocalypse but didn't)

Haven Memories:
- His first meeting with Alphonse Elric, Abel Nightroad, Jessica or Clementine
- Rescuing Jessica from being vivisected
- Bonding with Jessica and Clementine
- A quiet moment with Zatanna
- Wade's birthday present from Jesse Pinkman

These are just a few suggestions and they're not set in stone, but again if you've got something else you'd like to potentially plot out with me, hit me up!

Welp. Also late to the party but a lot of you have already plotted with me on The Plurks so hey, hopefully it's all good!

Since Angel is still on hiatus I'm avoiding memories that have Frisk in them; that essentially means that I'll be using mostly headcanon memories since...yeah. Kind of rules out most of the game as a whole, whoops. Chara's public memories will be:

-Visiting the junkyard for the first time with Asriel.
-"I should've laughed it off, like you did..."
-Gardening with dad!gore
-Overhearing a conversation with Toriel and Asgore that gets Chara thinking about- things.
-cw: suicide mentions will be in this one "Why would you ever climb a mountain like that?"

I really have plotted a lot with a few of you but hey consider taking this time to ask for a memory with your character in it, if you want! It might be one of your character's only chances to see...well, anything ever in regards to how Chara actually feels about them.


Edit: OH RIGHT so a lot of Chara's memories are pretty...dark, especially if you want to see anything from their life prior to their first attempted suicide. Please keep that in mind if you're looking for something not so great about what the kid's been through.

- Being killed by his teammate
- Being yelled at by his mother for being killed
- Escaping sexual assault by Prince Crab
- Zombie horde at the McDonald's

HEY I'M FINALLY POSTING SOMETHING ABOUT THIS GOSH GOLLY GEE

Papyrus has a few memories, and we can talk specifics! And! I'll be writing out small memory stories for each one. They're not all done, but I'll be posting something similar to the way that Dawn posted her memories with Sans! So! Here's what I've got so far!

1. (Kid!Pap) Papyrus waiting up for Sans to return home. It's cute. Papyrus was a cute child. Yep.
2. (Kid!Pap) What happened after the accident that removed Gaster from existence. Sans comes home. Papyrus knows something's wrong. Ends with the warm feels. Yep.
3. Sentry Tryouts! A good show of Papyrus' athletic/magic abilities.
4. Making spaghetti for the first time with Undyne!! IT'S AWESOME!!!

5. Papyrus bringing Sans home drunk after his brother overindulges in alcohol. Worrying. Fear. Emotions on the sad side.
6. The last memories Papyrus had of his world. Being a lost soul. Trying to find himself. Not being able to reach Sans.

7. Seeing the sunset for the first time. It'll be emotional. I WILL MAKE IT EMOTIONAL.
